A pop-up event for the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, titled "LOUIS VUITTON × MURAKAMI", will be held in Harajuku, Tokyo, from Thursday, January 2 to Sunday, January 26, 2025. The pop-up will showcase the first part of the "Re-Edition Collection", marking 20 years since their iconic first collaboration.
Out of the seven cities worldwide—New York, London, Milan, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, and Singapore—the Tokyo pop-up is the largest. The minimalist space, featuring vending machines and video areas reminiscent of Tokyo’s capsule hotels, offers a unique shopping experience that extends beyond just purchasing. Nearby, visitors can enjoy a café and digital installations, further immersing themselves in the world of "LOUIS VUITTON × MURAKAMI".
The collection includes over 170 creations, including leather goods, belts, skateboards, and a custom-made trunk, the "Maru 33 Speedy", which contains 33 "Speedy" bags. Takashi Murakami’s iconic motifs and characters, known for his distinctive artistic worldview, are vividly showcased throughout the collection.
For the first time in Louis Vuitton’s history, the Monogram pattern will be redesigned. Murakami’s playful designs, originally created for Marc Jacobs during an earlier collaboration, will be re-released in the form of bags and accessories. Other items available include city bags, scarves, sunglasses, jewelry, shoes, and fragrances.
Pre-orders for some items from the first chapter of "LOUIS VUITTON × MURAKAMI" will begin on Friday, December 27, 2024, via the Louis Vuitton official website and app. The full collection will be available online starting Wednesday, January 1, 2025 (national holiday), and in select stores starting Thursday, January 2, 2025.
