Stilettos & Split Toes: Fashion’s Unlikely Power Couple

Some collaborations feel inevitable, others unexpected. Then there are those that create pure magic—like the union of Maison Margiela and Christian Louboutin. On one side, the fearless deconstruction of John Galliano; on the other, Louboutin’s signature red-soled sensuality. The result? A collection that is nothing short of iconic.

It all started in January 2024 at Maison Margiela’s Artisanal runway show, where dark, dramatic silhouettes took center stage. Yet, one detail stood out—those unmistakable red soles peeking from under the radically structured shoes. Fast forward a year, and that runway moment has transformed into a collection divided into two distinct lines: “Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin” and “Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela.”

Louboutin reimagines Margiela’s cult-favorite Tabi shoe, sculpting the iconic split toe like a delicate foot décolleté. Pumps, sandals, and ballet flats are elevated with gleaming patent leather, crystal-encrusted mesh, and, of course, the signature red sole. Standout pieces include the Bridiela Una Strass, an ethereal wedding-inspired sandal, and the Marlougiela, a sleek, graphic ballerina.

Meanwhile, John Galliano injects Margiela’s raw, experimental spirit into Louboutin’s signature styles. Classic heels appear peeled back, exposing raw-cut layers, while frayed materials and unfinished edges highlight the beauty of deconstruction. The Xrismarteen, a sculptural boot, and the Bilougiela 25, a barely-there sandal, embody the tension between sensuality and rebellion.

This exclusive collection is available now—but only in extremely limited quantities. These sought-after designs will be sold at select boutiques and online stores for both brands, making them instant collector’s pieces.
