The 82nd Golden Globe Awards ceremony took place on January 5, 2025 (local time), where Shogun triumphed with four awards in the television drama series category, including Best Picture. Hiroyuki Sanada, who portrayed the warlord Yoshii Toranaga, inspired by Tokugawa Ieyasu, made history as the first Japanese actor to win Best Actor. Additionally, Anna Sawai, who played the strong and resilient Mariko, a character who survived the war-torn era under Toranaga’s rule, took home Best Actress. Tadanobu Asano, who portrayed the ambitious Kashiwagi Yabu, won Best Supporting Actor, marking a historic achievement with three Japanese actors winning in the same year, the most in Golden Globe history.

Sawai, with a smile, humbly said, "There are so many people I want to thank, but I’ll keep it short. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. If I could, I’d have voted for Kathy Bates (who was also nominated in the same category) any day. I also want to thank the amazing screenwriter. A great script is essential to delivering the best performances. I’ll express my gratitude to them later."

Shogun also made history at the 76th Emmy Awards, where it won 18 awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Hiroyuki Sanada), and Outstanding Actress (Anna Sawai).
